What days/hours are you open?

We are open everyday 6:00am to 8:00pm. Kitchen closes for menu meals at 7.30pm.
We have the longest opening hours in town; and are open 7 days per week for your convenience.
Public Holidays – generally 9:00am to 8.00pm

Please check our Facebook site Mataranka Roadhouse & Bakery (NT) prior to travel on public holidays to check opening hours.

Where is the Bakery?

The bakery is located near the ATM and goods are baked daily.

We have been operating since July 2020 and are Famous for our Pies, Cream buns and vanilla slice.

Do you serve Barista coffee?

Not only do we sell barista coffee we offer decaf, and all the milks including lactose free milk.

Plus we have a range of teas ready for your high tea with your bakery goodies.

Are you the servo with Rosie’s Chicken

Yes, we have launched the famous Rosie’s Chicken in December 2024. We offer the hot and cold menu. 

What Fuel is available at Mataranka Roadhouse?

We sell BP Premium Unleaded 95
Also BP Diesel

Standard Unleaded Fuel is not available

Mataranka’s origin

The name Mataranka means "home of the snake" in the Yangmanic language of the Aboriginal people who inhabit the area.  The name Mataranka was given to a sheep farm around 1915 by John A. Gilruth, who was the Administrator of the Northern Territory at that time. 

What are the road conditions?

Road conditions are available on NT Road Update website and Facebook Road Report NT

Is alcohol available at Mataranka Roadhouse?

We do not serve or sell alcohol at the roadhouse. Other businesses in town do serve and sell alcohol.

We do however sell a  variety of non alcoholic wines and beers and have ice.

Can I get fuel after hours?

We would like to offer this service however already opening 13.5 hours it is unlikely we will be able to assist.

Can I get water at the roadhouse

Water is available across the road behind the park. Venture down Martins road and turn right onto the dirt road and water and the dump point are available there.

Is EFTPOS Available

Yes, EFTPOS is Available in the store, however we are not able to offer a cash out facility.

We do have an ATM which is in the middle of the store, near the Bakery and Groceries.

Are there artwork or souvenirs available to purchase?

We stock souvenirs such as t-shirts, stickers, magnets etc.

Art work is available from Art Centres.

Is there mobile phone reception at Mataranka?

Yes we have Telstra and Optus mobile coverage.

There is also a public payphone past the Council office if required.

We recommend carrying a Sat phone if you wish to have full coverage along the Stuart Highway.

Is there internet available at the Roadhouse?

We are working with NT Tourism to have internet available. Currently it is at the Mataranka Homestead. It is best to have your own wifi – ie  Mobile or Starlink
